How I Quit Alcohol Using Energy Healing and Ancient Wisdom (2-Year Milestone)
"That nagging 3 AM voice saying 'Rose, why are you doing this to yourself?' finally got too loud to ignore."
Two years alcohol-free milestone! 🎉 After surviving breast cancer and losing both parents to cancer, I knew alcohol had to go—but willpower wasn't enough.
Here's what actually worked:
✨ Ancient Qigong movements that literally "unstuck" decades of stagnant energy patterns
✨ Daily Reiki healing to address the emotional roots
✨ Science-based education from This Naked Mind
✨ Spiritual guidance from Archangels Raphael & Michael
The breakthrough moment: Using specific toroidal movements from the Wuji practice while setting the intention to release my drinking habit. Something shifted at the energetic level that willpower alone couldn't touch.
Biggest surprise? The hardest part wasn't stopping drinking—it was worrying what friends would think. (Spoiler: they didn't care as much as I feared!)
Key insights:
- Moderation doesn't work: "After that first drink you may be right back where you started"
- Triggers are energetic patterns, not just mental patterns
- Community support + self-education = game changer
- Your authentic choices inspire others
Perfect for you if:
- You're curious about energy healing for habit change
- Traditional methods haven't worked
- You want a holistic approach to transformation
- You're ready to break any pattern that no longer serves you
This isn't just about alcohol—it's about using ancient wisdom and modern understanding to transform any stubborn habit.

Rose :This is a very tiny solo cast that I wanted to share with you. About a week ago, I celebrated a milestone. Actually, it was two years since I quit alcohol, and although a year ago, I wanted to make this same solo cast to share with you that milestone of a year, I decided to wait Because you never know what milestone of a year. I decided to wait because you never know what happens after a year, but I was really certain that I would be talking to you today, two years after quitting alcohol. My journey of a relationship with alcohol started a very long time ago, when I was younger, and the reason why I started drinking is because I wanted to fit in Now. Many of you may have felt the same way in the past about other things, about fitting in, peer pressure and all those things that make us want to be a part of a group and just make us do stupid things. So fast forward. Many, many years later, I tried quitting several times Now I just felt that alcohol wasn't really doing it for me anymore, doing anything for me at all. It was lovely being connected with other people in social gatherings, having a drink in my hand and having a good time, but eventually I realized that it wasn't all a good time. But eventually I realized that it wasn't all a good time. I started to recognize that I would wake up in the middle of the night with that nagging voice in my head saying Rose, why are you doing this to yourself? Why are you drinking at all? You really don't need to.
Rose :I had breast cancer 13 years ago and I should have stopped then. I should have stopped many, many years ago because, well, both of my parents died from cancer as well. My dad specifically died from a cancer related to alcohol and smoking. And, yes, I did smoke a long time ago and I successfully quit that, but I didn't realize that or didn't really give much thought to drinking, until several years ago, around COVID time, when many people decided to drink more because, well, what else did they have to do when they were home and it was summertime? I decided to go on a hiatus.
Rose :I came across a I guess it was a program or a website or videos with Annie Grace of This Naked Mind, and it was actually called a 30-day experiment at the time. So I decided, why not? It was free. She gave us very small, sizable videos to watch that were informative, not like Alcoholics Anonymous, which I've never been to, but I've heard that those groups are mostly about sharing where these videos were about what does alcohol do to you? What does it do to your brain? So a very science-backed program.
Rose :And at the time, during COVID, I actually stopped drinking, for I think it was about three months, thought I could go back and moderate. You know I really loved my wine. My husband and I collect wine from our various trips to Napa and Sonoma, so I really enjoyed wine with my meals. And during COVID I actually stopped everything. But then again, like I said, I thought I couldn't go back and moderate and it didn't work out. Moderation really doesn't work out Really. After that first drink, you are right back where you are at the beginning, because what alcohol does to you is it basically sucks you in. After that first drink, now maybe some people can stop. Maybe some people need to have a few before they stop, but for me, well, I decided a few years later that I really wanted to stop totally.
Rose :What I did is well one. I prayed a lot and I asked my archangels, specifically Archangel Raphael and Archangel Michael. Raphael is a healing archangel that I often use for Reiki and Archangel Michael is someone who protects us. So I called both of them in and also other guides and divine energy to help me, and you don't get the help unless you ask for it from these higher spirits or guides, so I call them in as well as do Reiki on myself all the time, and I am a Reiki master and have go-to energy system of healing that I've used for many years and decided to heal myself and to work on the intention of not drinking anymore.
Rose :At the same time, I was going through a course, a Qigong course, with my , J ohn Munro, of Long White Cloud Qigong. It was my third course or certification, and within this course, we did a very specific series of exercises in what he calls the Wuji practice. Now, this Wuji practice is about resetting our energy system, sort of like when you turn off your computer to restart it because, well, it's just kind of wacky, and then when you turn it back on, it resets. Well, these series of Qigong movements did the same thing for us. For me, one specific movement, which was a toroidal movement, basically helped move this very stagnant and deep-rooted energy out of my body. It unearthed or made unstuck certain habits that I had, specifically the drinking of alcohol. And while I did this movement, I set that intention that I was removing the habit, so removing the habit of drinking. As I'm doing this energy work continuously, continuously, continuously. Eventually I stopped drinking Now. So I stopped drinking Now. I also, at the same time, decided to jump the August 2023 path. They call a year a path and each cohort is a group for that time frame but I stopped drinking actually several weeks before the program even started.
Rose :Now she calls this spontaneous stopping or stopping of drinking alcohol, but for me it really wasn't spontaneous. I was working at it for quite some time, through my Chagat, through my Reiki, through my prayers, through the intention that I had to stop drinking Because, for me, I didn't want it anymore. It wasn't helping me physically and emotionally, but what was keeping me stuck in the drinking cycle were the triggers when, okay, it's five o'clock, I am now cooking dinner, so I'm going to have a glass of wine or a martini, or people are coming over so, yes, let's have a drink before they even get here. Or it's Thursday night after work, let me have a drink to relax. Now, I'm sure a lot of those triggers or a lot of those things or scenarios are familiar to you as well, because they become of our routine.
Rose :Once you overcome those triggers, it gets easier. It takes work. It wasn't just that easy. Yes, I stopped drinking spontaneously, so to speak, but I continued with learning the material, learning the information, learning about the triggers and what alcohol does to the brain, to the body, and also being in a community of other people who were struggling to stop, many of whom couldn't because it was so ingrained in them. And when we suffer in some way, emotionally and even physically, we hold on to something that we feel helps us, and maybe for many years. Maybe that's what I had as well. Maybe that was a subconscious trigger for me that I let go eventually after doing all of the work on myself. But I continue to do the work. I continue to overcome some of those triggers. It got easier, and it got easier until a point where I don't miss it at all, miss it at all.
Rose :Now, the hardest thing for me, I think, was being with other people in a social gathering, my friends specifically, and wondering what they thought of me, because, well, I wasn't drinking. Were they going to question me? Were they going to judge me? Were they going to still be my friends? And when I owned the fact that I wasn't drinking, when they said, well, do you want to drink? I'm like, no, I'm not drinking anymore. Oh, well, you know, they would say, well, I don't drink that much either. Well, and I would say, well, it's okay, you can drink as much as you'd like, I just don't want to drink anymore, I choose not to. And, as Annie Grace says, I can choose to have a drink anytime, I just choose not to have one. So after a while, they didn't care and I felt okay, I felt great about my choices, I owned my choices and I just marched on into continuous. You know being alcohol free. So you know there's a lot of material out there now.
Rose :More and more people are writing about overcoming our habits. It's not just drinking. It could be anything. It could be nail biting, it could be, you know, anything that you do consistently in your life that maybe you lost interest but it's really hard to break. Smoking is one of them. There could be other things that you do, even shopping or gambling. Those are all addictive behaviors that you know we easily get become a part of our routine. But I wanted to share this. It's a long road or it could be a challenge to stop, but you can do it If you have that desire. There are resources out there, just like the ones that I mentioned. Well, annie Grace, this Naked Mind being one of them. A physical practice that you do with the intention of specifically maybe breaking habits.
Rose :Journaling was huge for me I would journal about. Well, first I started journaling about why I really didn't want to drink anymore and how I felt every night and that voice inside my head that kept beating me up over and over, and I was finally tired of that stupid silly voice constantly berating me. And just my spiritual practice, my Reiki, and that helped really center me and guide me as well. So, yeah, you know you're strong. You're strong, you can do it If you so choose to. You may not choose to, and that's okay too, but I hope that maybe I said something in this episode that inspires you maybe to try or to seek out resources for yourself. Maybe have a think about it. You know you don't have to jump on something right away. You can think about how it makes you feel, whatever that is for you. So I just want to say I really appreciate that you're listening to my personal story.
Rose :I really don't share a lot of my personal stories on my podcast. I usually have a platform for others, but sharing my personal story is really healing for me and I'm here if you have any questions, if you want to talk about it, if you need a distant Reiki session or even talk about Qigong practices that you can begin even without the intention of stopping a habit, just to even feel good and reset your energy, reach out to me. You can reach me on my website or social media. Drop me a note. I am more than happy to speak to you, because that's what I'm here for. I'm here to help others, and so thank you.
